The RISE Center

A community hub for emerging artists, and scientists alike to connect with local residents and visitors to the Rockaways through programming and public art exhibitions

In 2016, RISE officially completed renovation of the former FDNY Company 265 Firehouse located at Beach 59th St & Rockaway Beach Blvd as a central hub for community programs and collaboration focused on environmental concerns in the region that affect the environmental, economic, physical health and well being of the Rockaway community.

This marked a big step forward for the Rockaway community. Today the RISE Center partners with community-based organizations and local businesses to host a variety of programs and activities free to the public.

The "Great Hall" gallery on the main floor has space for visual arts exhibitions and space for visiting planners, scientists and experts to lead community-led projects, lectures and programs for youth and the local community.

We believe the RISE Center will promote the Rockaways as a destination for the greater New York City community; raising awareness of the natural beauty of our area and bringing opportunities for economic development and vibrancy to the Rockaways.
