In 2016, RISE officially completed renovation of the former FDNY Company 265 Firehouse located at Beach 59th St & Rockaway Beach Blvd into a central hub for community programs and collaboration focused on environmental concerns in the region that affect the environmental, economic, physical health and well being of the local Rockaway community.

This marked a big step forward for the Rockaway community. Today RISE partners with community-based organizations and local businesses to host a variety of programs and activities free to the public.

A growing cultural arts scene is taking shape in Rockaway. The "Great Hall" gallery on the main floor has rotating visual artist exhibitions and classroom space on the 2nd floor, is used for planners, scientists and experts to lead community-led projects, lectures and classes for youth and local residents.

RISE's mission is to make the Rockaway Peninsula a more vibrant and resilient community through community planning, environmental stewardship, outdoor recreation and cultural arts programs.

We believe the RISE Center will help make the Rockaways a public tourist destination for the greater NYC community, bringing economic development, jobs, and resources to one of New York City's most underserved communities.
