Aqua 101 is a summer day camp program for middle schoolers to gain a better appreciation for the natural environment through healthy outdoor recreation and environmental science
Aqua 101 is where most of the students in our programs were first introduced to RISE. As part of the program, middle schoolers learn about water safety, CPR, environmental stewardship, while taking part in swimming, surfing, sailing, fishing, and kayaking in a safe and supportive environment along the Rockaway shoreline and Jamaica Bay. It is the ultimate summer camp experience, and one of the only programs of its kind in New York City.
Campers must be 10 years of age by the start of the program to be eligible. Each session, students are divided into smaller groups specific to their age/grade. Students 12+ will take part in more science research and preparation to join our the Shore Corps High School Internship Program.
Each camper can register for up a maximum of 2 sessions per summer season. If you would like to apply for more, let our staff know and they can waitlist your child for the additional weeks if there is space available.
