Eat Fresh, Eat Affordable, Eat Healthy

The RISE Farm Share is currently the only mixed income farm share serving the entire Rockaway Peninsula, with the mission of distributing fresh, locally-grown organic produce at an affordable price directly from the farm to the Rockaway community.

In the midst of the corona virus quarantine, you might be asking will the RISE Farm Share take place this year? And the answer is YES, WE ARE! We are committed to creating a safe farm share distribution this June-November, that addresses the need for no contact and social distancing.

This is such a difficult time we are working to move all food sampling and recipe sharing to remote workshops for members and are planning to expand the Farm Share distribution this year to serve even more people in the Rockaways than ever before; especially those most in need.

We are still accepting new members for this year and will be doing more outreach to our most vulnerable population. Please help spread the word:

RISE Farm Share is a 24-week membership subscription to a "share" of locally-grown veggies. Members sign up ahead of time and select their share option by May 1st. Between June and Mid-November we partner with Sang Lee Farms, a family owned and operated farm, to offer fresh, certified organic produce. Members visit our location at the RISE Center, 58-03 Rockaway Beach Blvd, Far Rockaway, NY every Wednesday from 4 - 7 PM, where they pick up their veggies, learn more about what's in their share and taste delicious recipes made by our Shore Corps students and Chef Educator.

All share options are FULL season (June 3rd - November 11th) commitments.

Our Model:

We use an intergenerational approach to community supported agriculture. We designed our Farm Share to not only increase access to nutritious food, but also strengthen bonds between all members of our community, young and old. Farm Share volunteers help distribute the vegetables, while our interns lead cooking demonstrations and food tastings. Together they transform our space each week into a lively experience around food.
